Partnership with Shaun Rankin

Co-operative's partnership with Michelin Chef to promote local produce

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Co-operative and Shaun Rankin join forces to champion local produce

The Channel Islands Co-operative is today announcing a partnership with Shaun Rankin, Head Chef at the Michelin Star Bohemia Restaurant, to help promote the local business's association with local produce.

Colin Macleod, Chief Executive of The Co-operative Society, said: "We are delighted to be working with Shaun. His interest in and promotion of local produce in both islands is exactly in line with our own position so this promises to be a perfect and productive partnership."

Colin and Shaun have this week been out and about visiting a number of local suppliers in Jersey and Guernsey and swapping information to help further strengthen established links with local producers. They are also on the look out for any potential new local suppliers in all categories such as meat, deli, fruit, vegetable and salad and dairy.

One of the first joint activities is the development of a series of monthly recipe cards, available in all Co-operative Grand Marche and Locale stores, the first of which is available in-store now. The second recipe card follows in a few weeks time.

Shaun Rankin said: "We have chosen a relatively simple but delicious dessert to start things off. Raspberry and Cream Cranachan is great for the summer months and of course the main ingredients can be found locally in the islands."

He continued "I'm looking forward to working with The Co-operative. I have been saying for some time that there is tremendous fresh, quality produce in our islands and through this partnership I hope to be able to show islanders what can be achieved."
